LENTEN REGULATIONS

The Following information is from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' Secretariat for Liturgy regarding Lenten regulations:
  • Catholics are asked to preserve the potential purpose and character of Lent, which begins on Ash Wednesday, February 17.
  • Catholics who have celebrated their 14th birthday, are bopund to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and each Friday of Lent.
  • Catholics who have celebrated their 18th birthday in addition to abstaining from meat, should fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday
Fasting includes taking only one full meal and smaller quantities of food at the other two meals. The obligation of fasting ceases with the celebration of one's 59th birthday.

These practices are designed for spiritual growth. Catholics should not excuse themselves lightly from these prescribed minimal penitential practices.

LOOK WHO SHOWED UP FOR SHOW AND TELL

Mrs. Funke's Pre-K class at Holy Family Catholic School had a couple special visitors. Fr. Edmundo and Chulo his dog came for a visit along with some of his staff from St. Joseph's Church. This was a great way to start off Catholic Schools Week! Fr. Edmundo and Chulo were the show and tell for Miss Trinity Bellgardt. Father Edmundo described his job to the children and what he likes to do when he's not working. Chulo showed how cute he can be and offered much love and kisses to the students. Fr. Edmundo invited all the students to go to church.
